Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities found he posed a definite escape threat while under domestic detention.

The former head of state was convicted of orchestrating a government overthrow in last fall and given more than a 27-year term in jail, but he continued under confinement pending appeals.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the action to imprison the 70-year-old politician was a preventative measure after fresh information were revealed.

This involved trying to remove his ankle monitor and a call for a demonstration that could enable a potential flight.

Court Filing Details Escape Concerns

In a document approving the detention, Justice Moraes said data from the facility tracking his home detention suggested the one-time head of state's "intention to break the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his getaway".

This, it said, would be assisted by the disorder caused by the gathering called by his child.

His son, his son Flávio, who serves as a congressional representative, called for a assembly of his followers near the former president's residence to take place on Saturday night.

His son wrote on social media on Friday: Do you plan to struggle for your country, or see it all from your smartphone there on your settee? I urge you to battle with us."

Worldwide Consequences

His judicial problems have provoked anger from fellow conservative nationalist American leader President Trump, leading him to implement a fifty percent tax on imports of Brazilian goods.

Latest Court Petitions

Context of Sentencing
